Meet Dr. Bishop

A service-oriented, tech-driven surgeon who possesses both dental and medical degrees, Dr. Curtis Bishop believes in providing his patients with the latest in oral surgery and the most intentional, compassionate care in the Pine Belt.

Bishop is a native of Pearl, Mississippi, where he spent most summers building houses, specifically framing and trim carpentry. Perhaps his early interest in home constructions foreshadowed his later profession in facial reconstruction. Upon graduation from high school, Bishop continued the family tradition and entered the U.S. military. He served in the U.S. Army as well as U.S. Air Force National Guard. Bishop’s service to our country provided the foundation and discipline for the long academic journey that would follow.

Bishop graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Science (BS). He then entered the University of M.S. School of Dentistry. He excelled academically and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2008. After deciding to pursue his new goal in oral surgery, Bishop was fortunate enough to receive offers from the finest schools across the country; however, money was scarce for a young married couple welcoming their first child, Grayson. Bishop drove to a handful of interviews and was accepted into arguably the best and most demanding full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency in the country, Louisiana State University – New Orleans. As a part of this rigorous program, Bishop first had to attend LSU Medical School and pass numerous board exams, which he completed in 2011 and received his Medical Degree (M.D.). In his final year of medical school, Bishop and his wife welcomed their second child, Chloe Ann. Upon graduation from medical school, Bishop completed one year of General Surgery Internship before moving forward with the oral surgery program. It is here that he was trained by world-renowned leaders in Facial Trauma Reconstruction, TMJ Reconstruction, Orthognathic Surgery, Advanced Bone Grafting Techniques, Cosmetic Surgery, and Dental Implantology to rehabilitate the worn dentition. Bishop has now entered private practice in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he enjoys hunting, attending the kids’ ball games, and working on his farm with his wife.

“For my team and me, our clinic is a place where people can rest assured knowing they’re more than a number or a case on a list,” Bishop said. “Here, we treat people with compassion, and we’ve built a system that incorporates time for questions, connection, and relationships. We’ve also invested in the latest technology so that our patients can receive the level of oral surgical care they deserve.”
